Chapter 65 L.B. & SMOKING & DRINKING @ 12

8/1989

ENABLING OF THE DELINQUENCY OF A MINOR & ENCOURAGEMENT OF SMOKING AT AGE 12

L.B. was the one who got me started smoking at the age 12 during a visit with her in which I went to visit her in Indiana and had to be picked up due to her being drunk and picking up a shotgun and swinging it around the kitchen. I was sitting on the floor behind a wall and had to call D.B. late at night to come pick me up as it was an emergency situation. She sent me home with a carton of cigarettes that she bought and then told him that I had them.

L.B. also used to bring money up to my school or a carton of cigarettes to the school for me, she would give me fifty dollars a month to purchase cigarettes with.

L.B. also had given me wine coolers during one of my visits with her, to try and get me to like drinking but because of her and her leaving me I do not like the taste, smell or anything about how alcohol makes me feel.

While smoking was my fault and I take responsibility for that choice in the first place, as a parent I quit smoking when I became suspicious that my daughter A.J.V.M. had been stealing my cigarettes so that I was not enabling my child from participating in the unhealthy and addictive habit.
